When I started this book I loved it! However, I am used to Charles Martin as a Christian author. This was a little disappointing. There were a lot of sexual references. There were a few mild profanities but that did not bother as much as the very sexual content. The book is also very “wordy” at times to the point I did some speed reading. It is a good story but the writing is disappointing from someone who normally doesn’t disappoint. I enjoyed Charles Martin's writings until this book. I deleted it from my kindle library after paying full price. Something has slipped. There are curse words and what's worse, they weren't necessary. They don't add dimension to the characters. The sexual situations have become more explicit and uncomfortable for me as a Christian. I had so looked forward to reading this, but, cannot recommend. He writes well and with insight, but the shift in what is now allowable replaced enjoyment with conscience that I shouldn't keep reading.
