This book was not gripping, it wasn’t anything promised. It mostly went on and on and on detailing a mother’s grief over losing her child. This was quite boring after the first few repetitive chapters of it. The twists were predictable (to me at least) I had thought the ending might redeem the dragging on of the story but ultimately, it did not. I stuck with it because I have a broken foot and am reading every thriller I can while I recover. This was not a fun read. I gave two stars instead of just one because she did a good job at describing the oft times subtlety of domestic abuse and I do applaud her for that. Having been in a variety of abusive relationships, this description rang true. While the set up was great, but the story quickly fell flat for me. Too much repetition by both characters, Megan and Daniel. I wasn't convinced that the child would be so hate-filled toward a mother whom he had loved. And I couldn't believe that Megan would be so trusting to strangers she knows only online.In my opinion, the author never really let the monster out. With all the horrors of today's world, harsh and demeaning words aren't enough.
